Hubby and I decided to give food boxes a go back at the beginning of the year after my very lovely work colleague told me about them. Our meal times at home had become a bit blah so we decided to give Gousto a go, and several boxes later we’re hooked! It’s so very convenient and the meals are so scrumptious. Once you’ve got the recipe you can create your favourites over and over.
Tonight we turned all these ingredients …..
….. into this …..
Dribble dribble dribble! Bechamel chicken with herbed potatoes and roasted carrots. It tastes amazing and it doesn’t hang around for long in this house.
I plan to make raised beds for a lovely sunny spot at the bottom of our garden soon so next summer we’ll be able to use our own homegrown vegetables to create our culinary delights. Tom and Barbara eat your heart out!
I skipped off into the garden after dinner to check if I needed to do any watering because it’s been a touch on the warm side in good old Brum today, and a lot of my plants are still in their pots waiting for their forever homes so are particularly susceptible to becoming parched, and joy of joys, the few vegetables that I have been able to grow this year are surging along with gusto.
I was given two tomato plants by a work colleague and I have eight whole tomatoes growing and one of them has finally got fed up of being green and has started to turn red. It’s kind of orangy at the moment but I’m sure it’ll get it right soon. Is it a coincidence, do you think, that I fed them yesterday and today this happened?
Let’s hope its bed fellows soon follow suit. I don’t even like tomatoes, but I’m eating these ones now I’ve nurtured them so.
Next I went to check on my courgette plant, whoop and double whoop, I almost have a courgette ready to harvest.
The plant started off like this ten weeks ago ….
….. but now it looks like this …..
Courgettes are girls – they grow on the female flowers so I will be waiting impatiently for the next few days till she’s ready to pick and eat. I’m intrigued to see what a yellow courgette tastes like and I know just which Gousto dish to cook her in!
